Stamp of Approval

Montgomery Family
Robin and Lee Montgomery, Solomon Islands

While students at SPU, our heart for missions was stirred as we heard missionary testimonies in Chapel and got involved in outreach opportunities on and off campus. Through Urban Involvement and SPRINT, we gained experience and a dream to one day serve overseas.

Over the past five years, our family served with Wycliffe Bible Translators in the Solomon Islands. As a literacy consultant and Scripture Use Coordinator, Lee worked with the national government, local churches, and NGO literacy agencies to provide training for village literacy teachers. He also coordinated audio recordings of the New Testament in the Bughotu and Wala languages.

I served as part of the team that designed a set of new postage stamps commemorating Bible translation in the Solomon Islands. At the official First Day of Issue ceremony, the governor general and guest speakers shared about the importance of translating the Scriptures.
