My husband Brady and I own the Inn at Discovery Coast in Long Beach, Washington, where we live with our two children. We had the privilege of joining three other Washington small business owners for a roundtable coffee discussion with President Obama in August 2010 when he was visiting the Seattle area. We were all chosen for the discussion due to our similar stories as small business entrepreneurs and our experiences obtaining small-business loans. Brady and I initially had a hard time receiving the loan from big-name banks, yet found success in working with small, local community banks, and have since then continued to prosper despite the challenging economic times.
In 2011, we opened a remodeled 84-unit oceanfront hotel next to the Inn called Adrift Hotel.
