Why Choose SPU?

We already think you're a great fit for Seattle Pacific University... that's why you're one of our admitted students! But don't just take our word for it. Here are some of the incredible things that helped our students realize that SPU was the best place for them to spend their college years. We hope you'll agree!

 Academics and Majors

With 65 majors, 57 minors, and a General Education curriculum designed to give you both a comprehensive liberal arts education and a strong foundation to prepare you for your career, SPU will equip you for success. Our student to faculty ratio of 14:1 means your professors will truly know you, offering mentorship opportunities designed to help you excel in your major. And don't forget, SPU is the only private university in the Pacific Northwest on U.S. News & World Report's Best National Universities list, so you can be assured that you'll receive a top-notch education here.

 Location

Located just ten minutes from downtown Seattle, SPU's location offers you access to one of the fastest-growing regions in the nation. With countless internship opportunities (ten Fortune 500 companies are in the region, and SPU students have interned at all of them!), fantastic restaurants, a thriving arts scene, quick access to the great outdoors, and three professional sports teams to root for nearby, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

 Christian Life

At Seattle Pacific, we believe that the Christian faith and rigorous academics are a powerful combination. Our faculty come from a wide variety of Christian traditions and integrate their faith into how they teach. You'll find a many diverse opportunities for worship, discipleship, and reconciliation. We celebrate diverse traditions and perspectives while remaining grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether you are a Christian or not, there is a place for you at SPU.

 Affordability and Value

While the published "sticker price" at a private university can look overwhelming, because of scholarships and other funding opportunities, that's generally not what most students pay. At SPU, 95 percent of our students receive scholarships and/or need-based financial aid, and our students borrow less money than the average college student. And our alumni tell us that their degrees are valuable — 98 percent of them say our academic quality met or exceeded their expectations.
