During Undergraduate Commencement on June 14, 2014, SPU President Dan Martin announced the establishment of the Jon Meis Engineering Scholarship, named in honor of the graduating senior who helped subdue the gunman during the campus shooting on June 5. This annual scholarship will go to an engineering student who reflects the spirit of SPU and lives a life for the benefit of others. Meis graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in electrical engineering in the Class of 2014.
