SPU Receives Boeing Grant

The Boeing Company awarded the Seattle Pacific University Physics Department a $75,000 grant for an initiative to improve K-12 physical science instruction through teacher collaboration and research-based curriculum development. This second round of funding follows an earlier 2012 Boeing grant of approximately $60,000.

The new grant will make it possible to continue and expand support for physical science teachers formed under the prior grant, as well as expand and refine a physical science curriculum website. A major focus of the grant is the alignment of the curriculum with the recently adopted “Next Generation of Science Standards,” a framework for science education created through a 26-state collaboration of teachers, scientists, policy analysts and business leaders.
