The Work and Faith Collection

SPU Library

Seattle Pacific University's Ames Library houses the Work and Faith Collection. It contains an array of books and resources exploring theological and on-the-ground applications of Christian faith in the workplace. Topics include ethics; vocation and calling; faith, economics, and business; faith and the professions; and much, much more.

A Rare Gift

Pete Hammond was vice-president-at-large for InterVarsity, and he and Shirley were widely recognized and dearly loved champions for the ministry-in-daily-life movement. Pete donated the collection to the SPU Library shortly before his death in 2008.

Officially called the Pete and Shirley Hammond InterVarsity Marketplace Collection, it currently holds more than 1,500 volumes, including rare and unique resources dating back to the early 1900s. A fund was endowed in 2009 to further develop the collection and honor the lives and work of this extraordinary couple.
