Dr. Cara Wall-Scheffler, Professor of Biology, is a co-author on a research article that addresses the hypothesis that dehydration limited persistance hunting (hunting prey to exhaustion) in the extinct hominin Homo erectus. The authors concluded that the duration of persistnce hunting in H. erectus would not be constrained by a need to carry water. The study, performed in conjunction with collaborators at Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) and Duke University (Durham, NC), appears in the January 2020 issue of the Journal of Human Evolution.
