Application Year Roadmap

Fall
  • Review PPHS committee process.
  • Take PPHS 3400.
  • Schedule required standardized examination no later than April 30.
  • Required by end of quarter: 3.5 GPA, 50 volunteer hours, 50 clinical hours.
  • Register online for Committee Interview by December 31.
  • Identify and contact potential evaluation letter writers.
  • Ask your PPHS advisor to consider serving as your committee lead.
  • Meet with your Committee Lead to discuss your application process.
  • Update your E-portfolio.
Winter
  • Finalize list of evaluation letter writers. Please review letter writer instructions prior to speaking with your letter writers.
  • Meet with PPHS Program Coordinator by January 31.
  • PPHS Program Coordinator will confirm committee lead selection by February 1st.
  • Send Upload Link to evaluation letter writers by February 15. Ask letter writers to submit the letter by March 31.
  • Submit committee application materials by email to PPHS@spu.edu by March 1.
      • Perstonal Statement, CV or Resume, clinical experience and community service logs, unofficial transcript, list of schools, and exam scores (if available)
      • These materials go to your committee members prior to your mock interview; they do not go to any schools.
  • Communicate any changes to your application plan with the PPHS Program Coordinator and your committee lead.
Spring
  • Follow up with letter of evaluation writers to ensure that letters are submitted by March 31.
  • Complete standardized examination by April 30.
  • Meet with your PPHS Lead to determine possible interview dates in April or May. Please communicate these dates to the PPHS Program Coordinator prior to March 31.
  • Meet with your Committee Lead at least 2 weeks prior to your interview to discuss interview strategy.
  • Complete committee interview.
    • Write thank-you notes to committee members.
  • Register with your professional application portal and note the key dates.
    • Be sure to request a "Committee Letter Packet" Submission. Use name of your PPHS Committee Lead with the email PPHS@spu.edu as their letter contact information. DO NOT USE any other email address.
  • Send a copy of your letter request confirmation or ID numbers to PPHS Program Coordinator by May 31.
  • Submit your application as soon as possible. Committee letters are typically submitted between mid July and August 1st.
  • Complete secondary application materials in a timely manner.
  • Finalize plans for coming year (see Gap Year Roadmap).
  • Research alternative graduate programs, post-baccalaureate programs, and employment related to your career interests.
  • Update your E-portfolio.
  • Communicate any changes to your application plan with the PPHS Program Coordinator and your committee lead.

      Summer

  • Update your E-portfolio.
  • Contact PPHS Program Coordinator if you have not heard that your committee letter has been submitted by July 15.
