The Sentence

Jennifer Maier

TuTh 3:00-4:20 p.m.

The Sentence is a course about sentence style that moves from treating issues of correctness, to examining techniques for clarity, to practicing touches of grace.

Lots of exercises editing writers’ sentences to understand how they work, imitations and recitations of other writers’ work, and a final stylistic analysis, where you, the student, get to pull all the course’s lessons together and apply what you’ve learned.
