Costume Design Minor

The Costume Design minor draws from classes offered in both the Theatre and Family and Consumer Sciences Department and includes courses in theatre fundamentals, fashion design, clothing construction, theatre history, clothing history, and more. You will also participate in theatre productions through a series of knowledge- and skill-building classes and experiences. 

This minor may be taken concurrent with any of the Theatre major emphases.

For a minor in Costume Design, you will take core courses such as “Basic Clothing Construction,” “Introduction to Theatre Design,” “History of Costume,” and “Costume Design.” You will also choose from electives that include “Stage Make-up,” “Exploring Global Dress & Behavior,” as well as various art and design courses that will allow you to tailor the minor to suit your personal interests.

A minimum 35 credits, including 15 upper-division credits, are required for this minor. The minimum total credits required for a degree is 180 quarter credits.
