Baker's Article Published. Bruce Baker, assistant professor of business ethics, had an article published in the online journal of the Oikonomia Network titled “What's So Spiritual About Capital?” The article is a theological reflection on the meaning of spiritual capital. Read the article online.

Terrill Participates in Conference. John Terrill, director for SBGE's Center for Integrity in Business, chaired a panel and participated in a plenary session at “The Vocation of the Business Leader” conference held at Seattle University, October 11–13. Learn more about the conference.

Hess’ Chapter Published. A book chapter written by Professor of Finance Dan Hess was published in August. “A Framework for CSR Assessment, Measurement and Reporting” is a chapter in the book Christian Ethics and Corporate Culture: A Critical View on Corporate Responsibilities. The book was published by Springer Publishing in New York.    

Stewart Gives Presentation; Article Published. Professor of Accounting Ross Stewart gave a presentation in August at the annual meeting of the American Accounting Association in Anaheim, California. He co-presented with Jill Hooks from Massey University. The presentation was titled “The Changing Role of Accounting: From Consumers to Shareholders.” Also, an article by Dr. Stewart was just published in Business and Society Review, titled “What Proponents of CSR Need to Know About Accounting: Drawing on Weber and Aristotle to Rethink Generally Accepted Accounting Principles” (with B. Dyck, J. Morrill, and N. Christie). Co-author Nancy Christie used to be on the School of Business, Government, and Economics (SBGE) faculty, and Bruno Dyck has been a visiting scholar in SBGE.  

Steinke Gives Presentation. Professor of Management and Information Systems Gerhard Steinke, along with alumnus Andrew Williams ’13, recently gave a presentation titled “Evaluating the Use of Social Media in the Banking Industry.” Read more.
