I am delighted to announce that this summer the Political Science and Geography Department joined with the School of Business and Economics to form the new School of Business, Government, and Economics (SBGE). So far as we can tell this is only the second such program in the United States, and only SPU’s program delivers an AACSB-accredited education.
PoliSci’s Global Development Studies program is one of the fastest-growing majors on campus and adds an explicit cross-cultural dimension to our School. The PoliSci department also brings with it a number of courses that explore faith and values in American politics, in world politics, and in the moral foundations of democracy. I am convinced that through this combination we are going to find tantalizing opportunities to explore the business of government as well as the government of business, all through a faith-informed lens that helps bring into focus ways to create and maintain companies and communities where people flourish.
Elsewhere in this newsletter you will be introduced to the Political Science and Geography Department faculty. In our next newsletter we will tell you more about the new School of Business, Government, and Economics.
