From Antarctica to Seattle: Welcome John Godek

John GodekJohn Godek joins the School of Business, Government, and Economics after having taught marketing and entrepreneurship for 11 years at the University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business and at University of Washington-Bothell, as well as two years of leadership and management at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. While at the University of Washington, John also served as the Entrepreneurship Center’s assistant director, and helped launch a $20,000 business plan competition. John’s research interests focus on consumer and managerial decisionmaking.

Before joining academia, John served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 11 years. During his career at sea he circumnavigated North America and visited penguin rookeries in Antarctica.

He earned his bachelor’s degree at the Coast Guard Academy in 1987, his MBA at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1993, his MS at the University of Michigan in 2000, and his doctorate at the University of Michigan in 2003.

More recently, John has revived a lifelong passion for photography, and on any given weekend can be found shooting sporting events and nature around Puget Sound. John and his wife Deb attend First Lutheran Church in Bothell and have two daughters.
