Seattle Pacific Seminary

Seattle Pacific Seminary offers a Master of Arts in Theology that has eight different concentrations to choose from, including Reconciliation and Intercultural Studies. SPS also offers a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree and a Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies.
The MDiv degree at Seattle Pacific Seminary is built on the classical theological disciplines of Scripture, church history, and theology, and prepares you for ordained ministry, other pastoral leadership, or admission to doctoral programs in theology.
Seattle Pacific Seminary’s vision for educating students is defined by a threefold model that we call “Academy, Abbey, and Apostolate®.” Throughout your education, you will be challenged to study theology in a rigorous, yet holistic manner that is equally focused on your spiritual formation, and your vocational preparedness.

Seminary Degrees

As a Seminary student, you can choose a Master of Divinity (MDiv), a Master of Arts in Theology (MA) degree, or a Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies—all of which support SPU’s vision to engage the culture and change the world with the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ.

ATS Accreditation

Seattle Pacific Seminary of Seattle Pacific University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association of Theological Schools, 10 Summit Park Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275-1110; (412) 788-6505. The following degree programs are approved by the Commission on Accrediting: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theology, with the following concentrations: Christian Scripture, Christian Traditions, Worship and the Arts, Christian Ministry, Theological Integration, Theology and Ethics, and Reconciliation and Intercultural Studies.

Seattle Pacific Seminary is hosting a comprehensive evaluation visit for reaffirmation of accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools' Commission on Accrediting on March 6–9, 2023. The purpose of this visit is to verify that Seattle Pacific Seminary meets all applicable Commission Standards of Accreditation. Comments regarding how well Seattle Pacific Seminary meets those standards and/or generally demonstrates educational quality may be sent to the ATS Accrediting Records Coordinator (accrediting@ats.edu; 412-788-6505) at least two weeks before the visit. Comments may also or instead be sent in writing to Dr. Brian Lugioyo, Dean of the Seattle Pacific University School of Theology (lugioyob@spu.edu; 206-281-2208) and/or Dr. Richard B.
