Why I work at SPU

“I love the opportunity to build community in a smaller context and get to know students on a personal level. Plus the CCC team is incredible!”

The best career advice I have ever received, heard, or given

"Careers are less like a ladder and more like a playground. They’re not always linear, the trajectory is not always upwards, and sometimes you get off and get back on in a different place. Enjoy the journey!"

A time I failed at something that taught me a lot

"After I built a tiny home, I tried to start a woodworking business. I was really excited but after some time, I realized that I needed to pivot and pursue a more established role. I was sad to leave that endeavor but appreciated the opportunity to give it a shot! At some point, I would still want to pursue a creative endeavor."

What motivates me

"There is still so much I don’t know and so much I can still get curious about. Possibilities are motivating."

Three of my favorite hobbies

"I love hanging out with my husband and our community, experiencing the outdoors, and hanging out with my puppy."

The last book I've read for fun

"Call Us What We Carry – by Amanda Gorman"

How I have "designed a meaningful life and career" for myself

"I’ve designed a meaningful life and career by embracing the fact that there is “no one way” for me to pursue career. I enjoy the possibilities. I embrace my multiple passions and interests. My work life and career gives me purpose but it is just one part of me. I have given myself permission to try, fail, and enjoy the journey."
