A case will be included in the table below if a report is made to SPU Health Services that an SPU faculty member, staff member, student, contractor, or campus visitor has tested positive for COVID-19 and was on campus during the period such individual is likely to have been contagious (i.e., at any time beginning 48 hours before such individual tested positive or began exhibiting symptoms and ending the later of ten days after such individual began exhibiting symptoms and 24 hours after such individual ceased exhibiting symptoms). For confidentiality purposes, the only information that will be included in the table will be the date a report of a confirmed case is made to SPU Health Services and the category of the individual’s relationship to SPU (e.g., staff member, faculty member, student).
The information in the table above will be updated at least once per week, possibly more frequently. SPU depends on reports made by other individuals and tests performed by other entities and cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of all of the statistics. Individuals who are suspected of having COVID-19 will not be recorded in the table above unless and until they have tested positive for COVID-19, even if they are placed in isolation or quarantine as a precaution.
Tracking confirmed cases
Health Services will be working with the King County Health Department in tracking confirmed cases of COVID-19 on SPU's campus. You can visit the Washington State Department of Health 2019 Novel Coronavirus Outbreak page for information and statistics by county and statewide.
SPU may contact SPU students and employees who are suspected of being close contacts of confirmed cases on campus, depending on the circumstances. Positive cases are asked to notify their close contacts and encourage them to contact Health Services for follow up recommendations. Close contacts are those who have spent more than 15 minutes within 6 feet of an individual with confirmed COVID-19 during the infectious period.
Since anyone can have mild or even no symptoms at all, it is important to practice infection prevention everyday with everybody. If you have concerns about a possible exposure or new symptoms, call Health Services to talk confidentially about it at 206-281-2231.
