Early Connections Orientation
Early Connections Orientation is a two-day orientation that starts one day before Seattle Pacific University’s New Student Orientation. It’s a great opportunity to move in a day before new student orientation begins, meet new friends, participate in fun activities, and establish a family of support from day one. It’s especially beneficial for incoming students who:
- Are from culturally diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Will be a first-generation college student.
- Were part of an AVID, College Bound, TRIO or similar college-readiness program.
Going virtual in 2020
This year, in light of COVID-19, you will attend Early Connections Orientation virtually. We want to honor the safety of our students, families, and represented communities, as well as make this opportunity accessible to more students.
Even offered online, though, EC Orientation will be engaging and provide opportunities for you to connect with peer mentors, and small groups of your fellow students. Families will also have a time to celebrate and support their students who are taking this next step in their academic journey.
Watch for more detailed information about the schedule of events and what to expect. In the meantime, please feel free to email us at mep@spu.edu with any questions.
Ongoing Early Connections
Early Connections doesn’t end after orientation. EC hosts quarterly events throughout the year that promote community, information and resource sharing, and leadership development such as EC family dinners, movie nights, study abroad panels, financial and academic support workshops, and more!
Even if you didn’t attend EC Orientation, you can join Early Connections at any time by stopping by the Multi-Ethnic Programs office located on the second floor of the Student Union building or by contacting Serena Manzo (serenamanzo@spu.edu).
