Overcoming the politics of division and fear: SPU to host national seminar

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

1:30–5:30 p.m.

First Free Methodist Church, Fine Center

This seminar is one stop in Repairers of the Breach's national tour aimed at training and educating current and future leaders to build movements, change policies, and enact social strategies for the common good. Attendees will be introduced to the theological underpinnings, historical analyses, and practical strategies of a moral movement that combines theology and activism in the midst of an often toxic current political climate.

Rev. Dr. William Barber from the Repairer's of the Breach and Poor People's Campaign and Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove from the School for Conversion will lead the seminar, drawing from history, the Bible, analysis of our current context, movement building strategies, and music in their dicussion.

In addition to the seminar at 1:30 p.m., Dr. Barber will preach at SPU’s Chapel service earlier that day. Chapel at SPU takes place 11:10 a.m.–12 p.m. at First Free Methodist Church across the street from SPU’s campus. This service is free and open to the public.

Registration is required. To register, click here.
