At the May 9, 2019, Celebration of Service, Staff Council President Teylar Greer announced the 2019 Staff Members of the Year:
Katie Bennett, graduate programs administrative assistant in the School of Health Sciences, was named the Oral V. Hemry Non-Exempt Staff Member of the Year.
Said her nominators: Katie leads through the details, particularly in this past year in preparation an accreditation site visit and schoolwide move, which took place within 10 days of each other. She became the “subject matter expert” in the process, contributing to a successful site visit. She continued in leadership through the move, supporting many aspects of simultaneous packing, unpacking, and organizing. She is one of the reasons School of Health Sciences is where it is today, says Dean of the School of Health Sciences Lorie Wild.
Donna McLynne, assistant director of Student Financial Services programs was named Exempt Staff Member of the Year.
Said her nominators: Along with her meaningful connection with colleagues and culture-shaping grace, she “is the model of servant leadership,” taking on tasks seen and unseen. Her supervisor says, “She is a kind, patient teacher who is happy to answer any question from a co-worker, student, or parent no matter how mundane it may seem.” She offers additional support for personal and professional needs, leading the office as she creates useful resources, helping Student Financial Services keep the full year in view in regards to work responsibilities.
