Education: BS, Universidad Tecnologica Centroamericana, 1999; MS, Istituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, 2003; PhD National Tsing Hua University, 2012. At SPU since 2017.

Dr. Carlos Arias comes from a Honduran university after serving there for the last 18 years, with positions from lecturer, computer science research professor, and department chairman, to his last position as research director of the university. He holds degrees from a Mexican university, and his PhD from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, where he and his family lived for five years. Dr. Arias’ research interests are wide, ranging from curriculum design to e-government and e-learning. At SPU, Dr. Arias teaches a broad range of computer science courses from freshman to senior level. Dr. Arias and his wife have a daughter and a son.
