Curve drawing program
from EZ Algebra
-
Click here to use curve drawing program (in new browser window)
- To use the curve drawing program, first enter
a formula for y in terms of x, in the form of entering
a formula into a computer spreadsheet. Type the return key
after the formula has been entered.
- Use * (asterisk) for multliplication; use ^ for exponents.
- Examples:
- y=2*x
- y=3*x^2
- y=4*x^3-297*x^2-598*x-915
- y=(x-3)*(x+5)
- Initially the graph will be scaled so that x and y values
run from -50 to 50.
- If you click on the graph, it will zoom in twice as close,
with the center of the graph at the point you click on.
- The small gray box at the upper left corner of the screen
is a button that will reveal the zoom control buttons when you
click on it. There are three zoom control buttons. The
"zoom out" button will reverse the direction of zooming, so that
each click will now zoom out instead of zooming in. The "zoom
in" button will reverse the direction of zooming so that each
click will again make the graph zoom in. The "to start" button
will return the zoom level to where it was at the beginning.
- If you want to draw a graph of another curve, then close
the window with this curve and
click on the link
here or at the top of the page to open a new window to
draw another curve.
