Connecting Art and Mathematics (Grades 3-8)

Using markers, watercolor, collage, printmaking, colored pencils and animation, learn to teach a variety of math concepts and procedures, including pattern, measurement, estimation, computation, fractions, decimals, geometric constructions and more. The vocabulary that art and math share makes this process natural, memorable and fun to do. Focus on creative thinking, craftsmanship, problem solving and persistence. This institute is for everyone; no special artistic ability is required.

Features include:

  • Important aspects of Washington State Essential Learnings in mathematics and the visual arts
  • A project list that integrates art and math

NOTE: Students will be asked to purchase their own materials via a supply list.
