Dealing with Dyslexia and Reading Difficulties in the Elementary School Classroom: The Process-based Reading Enhancement Program (PREP) (Grades 1-6) Particularly Special Education Title I Teachers and Administrators.

This course will address three main questions: What is dyslexia?, How do reading difficulties develop?, and how can reading difficulties be remediated? The emphasis of the course will be on the latter question and introduce the students to the Process-based Reading Enhancement Program (PREP). PREP is an innovative program with over ten years of research and is grounded on the idea that improvement in reading can be achieved by strengthening neural pathways. In addition to providing early readers with the opportunities to develop and internalize efficient reading strategies, PREP is also cost effective and enjoyable for children and teachers to use. Participants will have ample opportunity to work with the PREP materials and thoroughly familiarize themselves with their classroom application.
