Art Across The Curriculum (Grades 1-9)

This action-packed institute covers methods for helping children create artwork of exceptional quality. Through hands-on experience with ink, printmaking, oil pastel, colored pencils, collage, murals and watercolors learn to design lessons that combine real art with any subject. Emphasizes Washington EALR's in Art. Assessment strategies that support student autonomy, growth and creativity to be discussed. This institute is for everyone; no special artistic ability is required.

NOTE: Students will be asked to purchase their own materials via a supply list. Features include:

  • Discussion of a full array of assessment strategies
  • How to use art to teach problem solving, craftsmanship and persistence
  • A list of projects connecting art with reading, writing, science, multi-cultural studies, math and more!
