Scoring rubrics are fine, but someone still has to teach the kids skills they need to do well on whatever rubric is in vogue. This is the course that has helped an above-average number of Washington kids achieve competence on the state writing test each year‹and on the ITBS for fifteen years before that. This is the introductory course to the Writing Northwest Program which in its entirety gives you everything you need to teach writing from grammar to grading: it acquaints you with a K-12 continuum of writing skills and processes and qualifies you to take the first practicum later in the year.
