Mom's Weekend   Mom's Weekend Recap

Mom's Weekend was full of happy reunions and lots of fun. Parents traveled to Seattle from near and far to greet their SPU students, many of whom they hadn't seen since Welcome Week.

On Saturday, November 3, nearly 280 moms and students filled Upper Gwinn to enjoy brunch with one another and a student-emceed, student-designed, and student-modeled fashion show, highlighting SPU's burgeoning Clothing and Textiles Department. Parent Council President Marie Anderson hosted an interview with Pam Martin, wife of SPU President Dan Martin, and alum-turned-professor Sharleen Kato '82 introduced young alumnae Carlynne Morrison '10 and Angela Bees '07, who shared how life at SPU prepared them for vocational exploration and success. It was a wonderful gathering, and we hope you'll join us next year for another great day! Stay tuned for Dad's Day details -- a date will be announced following the release of the Seattle Sounders' spring schedule.

Check out photos from the event.

Veteran's Day   SPU Pays Tribute to Veterans Day

A panel of SPU student veterans and military personnel shared their stories of service on November 8. Many SPU students, faculty, and staff appreciated the chance to observe this holiday and to recognize the sacrifice that these students have made on behalf of our country.

Christmas Packages   Christmas Care Packages

Each year, during finals week in December, the SPU Residence Life staff distributes care packages to all students living in residence halls, campus houses, and campus apartments. As a parent or guardian, you should have received a letter inviting you to write a personal note to your student and to contribute $4 to offset the cost of the various goodies included in the gift bag. If your student is living in a residence hall, campus house, or campus apartment, but you have not received your letter yet, please call the Office of Residence Life at 206-281-2043.

Registration for Winter Quarter was November 13-16. Students had appointment times scheduled based on their class standing and number of college credits earned. Student Academic Services (Registration and Academic Counseling) may be emailed at sasinfo@spu.edu. The Center for Career and Calling and the Center for Learning are also available.
