SPU music students recently had the rare chance to work with one of the most famous voices of stage and screen. Marni Nixon, the singing voice of Deborah Kerr (The King and I, An Affair to Remember), Natalie Wood (West Side Story), and Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady), visited SPU in late January 2013 to lead two master classes for voice performance
students and the public.
βIt was such an honor and privilege to meet her and have her work with our students,β said Cherie Hughes, instructor of music and director of vocal studies, who helped Blackbox Opera Theatre organize her visit to campus. Nixon was in Seattle to judge Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
