Falcon’s Thrill

Just some of the reasons that it felt good to be a Falcon in 2008–09

Unparalleled Performance

Senior Brianna Schwartz took the national title in the uneven bars at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships.

The Epic Swoosh

Senior Casey Reed made a 35-foot jump shot at the buzzer to give SPU a 68-66 men’s basketball victory against Alaska-Anchorage.

Way to Row

The SPU women’s varsity eight crew came in third place at the NCAA Division II nationals.

Pixler Raises the Bar (again and again)

Jessica Pixler won four NCAA Division II championship titles this year alone — one in cross country, two in indoor track, and one in outdoor track. This Falcon now has eight national titles under her belt.

National Champs (Need we say more?)

The women’s soccer team won the NCAA Division II National Championship game in Tampa, Florida.

It All Adds Up

This year, the Falcons finished among the top 25 athletic programs in all of NCAA Division II. That’s out of 230 schools! Here are some of the other season highlights:

3 Conference Champions or Co-Champions for Team Sports 4 Teams in the National Top 10 8 All-American Athletes 10 Academic All-Americans 3 Conference Players/Athletes of the Year 4 Conference Freshmen of the Year 24 All-Conference First Team Members 42 All-Conference Awards 48 Academic All-Conference Awards 2 Conference Coaches of the Year
