When we last met Brandon Teng, he had a biology major, nonprofit business, and rock band under his belt. Now a junior at SPU, he’s decided to double-major in biology and business, with intent on heading to medical school after graduation. “My dream would be to… serve physical and spiritual needs” in a career, Teng says.
Teng’s living off-campus with friends he met in the dorms, leads a community group at his church, and is still heading his nonprofit business, Care for Kids. In the end, Teng says he’s going to “keep dreaming big and see what happens.”
Brandon Teng: Then
Sophmore Brandon Teng had a killer freshman year. The Biology major co-founded Care for Kids, a non-profit business venture that mobilizes young people to support kids with AIDS in Zambia and Uganda. The nonprofit took the $2,500 grand prize in SPU’s annual Social Venture Plan Competition Showcase.
Teng’s band, Secret o’ Life, also won another hot competition at SPU: the Homecoming Talent Show. “Brandon has great ideas,” says a friend, “and the scary thing is that he’s already accomplishing them.”
