Established in July 2017, the ODEI is the culmination of earlier efforts to more deeply integrate diversity goals into the fabric of the institution. The three-fold nature of our work focuses on producing deep and lasting change.
We support ongoing diversity efforts and encourage cross-unit conversations and planning for a more coordinated approach.
We serve as a resource to the campus community, providing training and consultation on a variety of diversity-related matters.
We develop new diversity initiatives where gaps have been identified.
Within the ODEI, we strive as a team to:
Shape a universitywide strategic diversity framework that lends direction to the work of diversity and reconciliation.
Partner with SPU departments to establish priorities and action plans for the work of diversity.
Build individual and institutional capacity to work productively toward our university diversity goals.
We ground this work in the gospel of Jesus Christ, recognizing that diversity is an aspect of our calling to be a reconciled community.
