Diversity Seed Grants

The ODEI offers seed grants up to $1,500 to support department-wide initiatives that advance one or more of the University’s strategic diversity goal areas. See how some areas across campus are using seed grants to support their diversity action plans.

Through the seed grant program, we hope to encourage department-level planning (for academic and non-academic departments) and foster a sense of mutual commitment to the work of diversity. Apply for a seed grant here.

Selection Criteria

Action plans that are likely to be funded will:

  • align to one or more of the University diversity goal areas.
  • articulate how the proposed plan will inform the ongoing work of the department.
  • show evidence of broad participation within the unit to develop and implement the action plan.
  • clearly identify expected outcomes and describe plans for assessing progress toward those outcomes.

Additional consideration will be given to action plans that demonstrate the capacity to be replicated across campus.

Note: Please keep in mind that one-time events and individual professional development activities will not be supported by the diversity seed grants unless they are connected to larger departmental initiatives.
