Diversity Seed Grants

Supporting diversity planning efforts across campus

The Office of Inclusive Excellence offers seed grants up to $1,500 for department-wide initiatives that advance one or more of the University’s strategic diversity goal areas.

Through the seed grant program, we hope to encourage department-level planning (for academic and non-academic departments) and foster a sense of mutual commitment to the work of diversity. Apply for a seed grant here.

Selection Criteria

Seed grant applications that are likely to be funded will:

  • align to one or more of the University diversity goal areas.
  • articulate how the proposed initiative(s) will inform the ongoing work of the department.
  • show evidence of broad participation within the unit to develop and implement the proposed initiative(s).
  • clearly identify expected outcomes and describe plans for assessing progress toward those outcomes.

Additional consideration will be given to initiatives that demonstrate the capacity to be replicated across campus.

Note: Please keep in mind that one-time events and individual professional development activities will not be supported by the diversity seed grants unless they are connected to larger departmental initiatives.
