Search Advocate Program

In August 2020, SPU piloted a new hiring initiative with permission from, and modeled after, Oregon State University’s Search Advocate Program. Search advocates provide guidance and support in writing job advertisements and other recruiting materials that are inclusive and designed to foster a diverse candidate pool. The advocates also work with the search committee throughout the candidate search and interview process to utilize equitable practices and raise awareness of implicit bias.
