As a the owner of FreeStyle Production, Solberg produces videos for various companies and organizations. In doing so, he travels and meets all kinds of people. Solberg says he gets fired up on being able to produce videos that have the potential to inspire people across the world, and he’s excited to pursue this dream as far as it will go.
How does your time at SPU connect to the work you’re doing today?
My time at SPU was huge for me. That is where I have met one of my best friends, Justin Bilyeu, who also works for Look Development, and we have been able to support each other as we both pursue our dreams. Having a friend like that, continually pushing you forward and challenging you to be a better person can dramatically change your future. SPU was filled with people and professors who are like that. The people in your life can have big impacts on it and SPU has the best of the best.
Who made a difference in your SPU education?
Dr. Debbie Pope, Dr. Lorelle Jabs, and Ursula Krentz hands down. These are the three names I immediately think back on when I remember college professors. The manner that they taught in and the genuine interest and passion they had for the topics they covered was significantly impactful. The lessons I learned from their classes came with me into every new area I found myself, whether it was connecting with people from a totally different country/culture, or counseling young adults at Christian Encounter who had pretty destructive backgrounds. Without the information I learned from SPU, and especially these three professors, I would not have been as prepared as I was.
What advice do you have for students about life after graduation?
Find people that push you in the right direction. Live life as the insanely fun and exciting adventure that God has for you. Life is good!
