Dancers perform at talent show during SPU’s 2018 Homecoming weekend

Banish winter doldrums by embracing the warmth of fond memories and friendships past at Seattle Pacific University’s biggest alumni event of the year.

Homecoming and Family Weekend, February 1–3, brings fun-filled events, shows that highlight student talent, and alumni honors.

Among this year’s highlights:

  • 6 Nickerson Building Dedication and Open House. Tour the brand new Nursing facility and labs, and hear how the space is paving the way for program growth.
  • Theatre Production: Before the Eclipse, Anton Chekhov’s funniest short play, will leave you laughing at the comedy of life.
  • Cheer on the Falcons: The Men’s Basketball team takes on the Western Washington University Vikings in Royal Brougham.
  • Student Talent Show. This rollicking annual favorite features top-tier student performances and local celebrity judges.

The annual Alumni Awards Dinner on Saturday night honors outstanding SPU graduates who are making a difference in the aerospace and entertainment industries, as well as in business and foster care.

Jenette Ramos

As senior vice president of Boeing Co.’s Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Operations and a member of the aerospace giant’s Executive Council, Alumna of the Year Jenette Ramos MBA ’94 oversees the production and sourcing of supplies from every state in the U.S. and 57 countries. Ramos was named the 2017 Asian American Executive of the Year. She serves various nonprofits and mentors young multiethnic professionals.

The Band Joseph

Hard work and harmonies have propelled the band Joseph’s success. GOLD Alumnae of the Year Natalie Closner Schepman ’09 and Allison and Meegan Closner ’11 tour nationally and internationally — 280 days in 2016 and 240 in 2017 — playing intimate venues and huge music festivals. The sister-trio made numerous television appearances and released two albums and an EP, with another album due out this year.

Philip Jacobs

For Medallion Award honoree Philip Jacobs ’08, success stems from relationships. Such ties led to his roles as a leadership speaker, hip-hop artist, consultant, father, and founder of the R.E.B.E.L (Redeemed Entirely by Elohim’s Love) firm. Jacobs’ music has been featured on Bones, The Mindy Project, Friday Night Lights, America’s Next Top Model, and Castle. Today, at Greatheart Consulting, he develops business solutions to increase workplace diversity and inclusion.

Allie Griffith Roth

Medallion Award honoree Allie Griffith Roth ’03 founded With Love, a nonprofit that supports Portland-area foster families, even before she started fostering babies herself. The 5-year-old organization — which serves 130 children under the age of 6 each month — delivers brand-new or like-new items like clothing and cribs to foster families for free. Its 900 volunteers collectively contribute 500 volunteer hours each month in Tigard, Oregon.
