spubound photo contest #mypassion

Is there something you could spend hours doing and never get tired of doing it? Is there something that makes you come alive and sparks joy in your heart? Whether it be taking photos, dancing, working out, playing video games, thrifting, writing, or collecting plants — we want to know what you're passionate about! On August 12, we launched our fifth theme in the #spubound photo contest for Seattle Pacific's 2019 incoming class.

Incoming students showed us their #mypassion photos on social media, and we narrowed it down to the top six. We loved seeing all their unique passions that mark them and set them a part! We’re excited to see how they'll use those passions to create communities and connect with others while at SPU!

You voted to choose the best photo, and you chose Michele’s “I ❤️ Community Service” photo as the winner! She will receive a $25 Amazon gift card at Orientation. The #spubound photo contest is almost over! Only TWO more themes to go!

All students who have submitted photos will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win Airpods at the end of the contest. Every photo submission per theme will count as a raffle entry.

Voting closed on Sunday, August 25 at 11:59 p.m.

6. “I ❤️ Theatre”: @lulahsimone

“I am very grateful for Monterey Trail High School Drama Club and all the opportunities they have given me. I grew up dancing, but in high school I fell in love with theatre so much that I have decided that I am SPU bound to pursue my passion of Theatre Education this upcoming fall!”

5. “I ❤️ Community Service”: @MicheleMojarro

“One of my passions; community service!”

4. “I ❤️ Psychology”: @hal.wolff

“At age 9, I was diagnosed at the extreme end of the OCD spectrum, and later developed clinical depression and body dysmorphic disorder. Despite the lifelong process of overcoming each of these, I’ve had time to look at how God has used this to strengthen me. I’ve become fascinated with the workings of the beautiful brains God put in each & every one of us, and how unique each one is! I want to lead people in the same way I’ve been led by my therapists from such a young age. I want to show someone that there is light at the end of the tunnel, even after fighting with their own thoughts every day. Being a therapist for those struggling with mental illnesses is my calling, and I can’t wait to start chasing it at SPU! I can’t wait to share the hope I found with others like me 🥰 Matthew 11:24- Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest 💛”

3. “I ❤️ Acting”: @cam.xav

“My passion is definitely acting (a fool) and i’m excited for the opportunities and open doors that await me in Seattle! 🎭❤️🖤”

2. “I ❤️ Modeling”: @amberbergrudofficial

“My passion is modeling in photos, being creative, and inspiring people. I don’t like the term influencer… I prefer creator. Modeling helped me with confidence and I hope it can do the same for others! ❤️”

1. “I ❤️ Fashion Design”: @jchnsworld

“Fashion has always been a part of my life, it has never failed to put a smile on my face and has never failed to calm me down in times of crisis. However, it wasn’t until freshmen year that I truly embraced what I thought was a hobby as my lifelong passion. I knew this was what I was meant to do. This sustainable evening wear collection (pictured above) has made me scream, stress, cry all at once but the final product of it all really made me speechless. I still have a long ways to go but I am incredibly thankful for this moment because it confirmed that my dreams can be achievable and I will not stop working towards it. Thank you again to everyone that came to support me on this day. I truly cannot thank you enough for it. I love you all ❤️ I’m excited to start the next chapter of my journey at SPU 🥰”
