A cultural and historical survey of non-western music traditions in North America that function as identity for faith practices, oppressed minorities, protest and civil rights movements, and racial reconciliation, among others. Students will explore and foster a positive attitude toward diverse music styles that function as agents of change. The process includes reading, writing, listening, and analysis.
