EGR 3800: Biomedical Engineering I (2025-2026)

This course includes an introduction to the history of biomedical engineering, as well as an introduction to biosensors, bioelectric phenomena, bioinstrumentation, biosignal processing, biomechanics, cardiovascular mechanics, prosthetics, and cellular mechanics. Additional topics will vary depending on the instructor to include topics such as biomedical ultrasound, bio-optics, and microfluidic devices. The course will emphasize the need for biomedical devices that are both affordable and accessible. The course includes solving biomedical engineering problems, along with labs, readings, presentations, and research papers. Typically offered: Winter, Spring, Alternate Years.
