ENG 2500: Media and Cultural Studies (2026-2027)

This course examines the relationship between digital technologies, media practices, and contemporary culture. Students explore how digital media—online or in film—shape identity, community, and power in cultural production across international contexts. Through lectures, readings, film, and collaborative projects, students will use theoretical and analytical tools to critically engage contemporary media and culture. Common topics include fandoms and film, advertising and algorithms, social media and online activism, surveillance and the attention economy, production of digital identities, digital ethics and faith practices.
