This course covers the Anglo-Saxon, Anglo-Norman, and high-medieval periods of early English literature. It examines Old English heroic verse, the literature of chivalry and the courtly love tradition, and the accounts of medieval mystics such as Julian of Norwich and Margery Kempe.
