The quality of development policies, management, and of governance systems often disappoints, especially in so-called ‘developing’ countries. As such, this course takes a practical approach and explores the key to achieve fundamental improvements in public sector performance and development outcomes in some of the most challenging environments in the world. The students will develop skills and understanding necessary to assess community needs, conceptualize projects, monitor and evaluate projects and appreciate the importance of stakeholder participation and commitment. May be repeated for credit up to 5 credits.
