Meet the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

Cynthia Price, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

Dr. Cynthia Price is responsible for providing leadership to the academic experience. This work includes leading the Academic Leadership Team, as well as the University Library, the Office of the Registrar, and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. She also has oversight of general education, the University Honors program, academic advising, educational technology, and curriculum. In her capacity as vice provost, she also acts as a liaison to several faculty governance committees.

Dr. Price began her career as a founding faculty member at the University of Washington, Bothell. She came to Seattle Pacific in 1993 to serve as a member of the sociology faculty and the chair of the department. In 2000, she transitioned to the director of general education and academic advising. In 2001, her portfolio expanded further as she was appointed associate vice president for academic affairs. In 2014, she was appointed vice provost for academic affairs. In addition to her work with academic advising and general education, she was responsible for institutional assessment and accreditation efforts, study abroad, and she oversaw the work of the institutional review board and the institutional animal care and use committee.

Dr. Price also served as an interim dean of health sciences and on the interim academic leadership team during previous transitions. She served in those roles until 2014, when she was named SPU’s vice provost for academic affairs.
