Athletics The Scholar-Athlete

Female Athlete of the Year

Jessica Pixler

Though she's moved away to Colorado, Seattle hasn't forgotten star runner Jessica Pixler. A 2010 SPU graduate and NCAA Top VIII athlete, Pixler was named Seattle's Female Athlete of the Year at the 76th annual 2010 Sports Star of the Year event on January 26, 2011, at Benaroya Hall. Pixler is the second Seattle Pacific distance running star and the third Falcon overall to win the annual honor, joining legendary runner Doris Brown Heritage (1970) and former men's soccer coach Cliff McCrath (1986) on the list. Of all her awards, she says, this might be the most meaningful. "It was really special to me because Doris has won it before," Pixler says.

A graduate student at University of Colorado earning a master's in curriculum and education, Pixler will run one last season of collegiate outdoor track for Colorado this spring.
