SPU Wellness
From the Wellness Initiative: Weather and Environment

Weather and environment can impact mood and mental health. As we’re in the middle of summer and away from the fast-paced environment of academia, it’s important to recognize the benefits of sunshine and increased access to the outdoors and outside activities. We all may benefit by participating in outdoor activities or spending time in natural restorative environments. To learn more, visit the Wellness blog.

Brad Murg
Murg’s Chapter Published. Helps Establish NGO in Cambodia.

A chapter written by Assistant Professor of Political Science and Director of Global Development Studies Brad Murg titled “Whither Indo-Cambodian Relations?” has been published in Cambodia's Foreign Relations in Regional and Global Contexts, a new, peer-reviewed volume by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Brad is also serving as second reader for 16 M.A. theses at SPU’s local partner institution, the Royal University of Law and Economics, where he is also teaching his second class of the summer, International Political Economy. Brad was also recently appointed by former Cambodian Deputy Foreign Minister Pou Sothirak as senior research fellow at the Cambodia Institute for Cooperation and Peace, and has been designated to lead a group of scholars in developing a formal institution to support the “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine in Cambodia and throughout the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region. He has also given a series of lectures exploring various aspects of development theory in Phnom Penh as well as the future of Sino-Cambodian relations. Earlier this year, after receiving a series of grants from various foundations, Brad and several colleagues established a new non-government organization ꟷ the Greater Mekong Research Center ꟷ which is rapidly becoming a leading voice in Cambodian media, academic, and policy circles on questions of democratization, human rights protection, and economic development. You can check out their activities online.
