Jamie Crespo
SPU Voices Podcast: “Getting Better With Every Mile,” with Jamie Crespo

Jamie Crespo ’12, an applied human biology major, was already a health care worker when she suddenly found herself caring for not one, but both of her parents. Her newfound passion for running provided her escape and a new community of support when she needed it the most. She is now using that passion to raise money and awareness for the prevention of colon cancer. Listen to her story in this SPU Voices Podcast.

10th of the month
Monthly deadlines for payroll and benefits changes

The 10th of each month is the last day to make changes to your upcoming payroll check. Do you need to add or remove your spouse and/or children from your health care plans? If so, contact Human Resources (HR) to complete the appropriate form. Changes might include events that are expected to impact your benefits and deductions, such as your spouse or children gaining or losing coverage due to employment, birth, marriage, etc. Additionally, any changes to your 403b account may take up to seven days to be provided to SPU for processing, so please contract Transamerica by the first of the month prior to your requested change. For changes to your 403(b) account, contact Transamerica Retirement Solutions at 1-888-676-5512 (5 a.m.–6 p.m. PST), or 1-800-755-5801. If you have any other benefits-related changes, call Cherylin Shdo in HR at 206-281-2816.

Mailing Services
Mailing Services hours for Tuesday, Aug. 30

Mailing Services will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 30, 11:45 a.m.–1 p.m. for a team building exercise.

Mailing Services is now operating on summer hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., with no mail and package delivery or pickup. You are welcome to come by Mailing Services to pick up your departmental mail and packages.

  • If your department will NOT have anyone pick up your department’s mail this summer, please contact Mailing Services at 206-281-2077 or mailing@spu.edu. (This is so we won’t try to contact the department if a lot of mail collects during the summer.)
  • If your department will be closed for more than a week, please let Mailing Services know so staff can make arrangements. If your department receives a large delivery, we would store the delivery or contact Safety and Security to be let into the department.
