McKenna Featured Speaker

Rob McKenna, chair of Industrial-Organizational Psychology and executive director of the Center for Leadership Research and Development, spoke to 300 faculty at California Baptist University in August on the reality of being a leader, the specific contexts of disciplines as leadership development accelerators, and the implications for work as faculty in identifying and developing the generation of Christian leaders that will be the next to go first. Rob explains more about his talk: “After decades of research and practice in the discipline of leadership development, there are principles we can apply as we seek to develop the next generation of leaders on our Christ-centered campuses. We also know that leaders develop in very specific contexts. Who is better qualified to prepare the next generation of leaders in your discipline than we as professors and teachers?”

Susan VanZanten
VanZanten Featured Speaker

Professor of English Susan VanZanten was the featured speaker at the annual Faculty-Staff Institute of Judson College, in Marion, Alabama, in August. Her address was titled “Joining the Mission: Your Place in the Narrative.”  In the afternoon, she led a faculty workshop on “Using Narrative in Teaching and Learning.” Judson College is the only women’s college in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, and it also houses the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame, whose honorees include Helen Keller, Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, Tallulah Bankhead, and Zora Neale Hurston.
