American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance: I have attended 18 national meetings since joining AAHPERD in 1968. In addition, I have attended most annual meetings of the districts (Southern, Southwest, and Northwest) in which I have resided. It has been my pleasure to serve on several district and national boards and committees and to act as a manuscript reviewer for the JOPERD.
American Canoe Association: I just joined the ACA in 1996 and am updating and broadening my paddlesport expertise that was based primarily upon American Red Cross Canoeing Instructor certification obtained in the mid-1960's.
American College of Sports Medicine: I have been a member of the ACSM since 1975, and I have attended 16 annual meetings of the national organization and most meetings of its Northwest Chapter.
Divers Alert Network: I am a DAN member, sponsor, and instructor of Oxgen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries including REMO2.
First Aid Institute of the National Safety Council: I am a first aid and CPR instructor.
Instituto Panamericano de Educacion Fisica: Since the summer of 1988, I have spent 1-6 weeks teaching clinics and graduate courses for IPEF in various parts of Venezuela. These have primarily been courses in wellness/health-promotion for physical educators and courses on aspects of exercise physiology for physicians.
National Association of Underwater Instructors: After first receiving scuba instructor certification from the YMCA, I became a NAUI instructor in 1969 and have attended five national meetings since that time.
Washington Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance: I have been a member of WAHPERD since moving to the state of Washington in 1978. I have attended 18 of the Alliance's annual meetings and have served as President (1982-83) and in many other capacities.
Although no longer officially affiliated with them, I have a strong enduring affection for the American Red Cross (from which I had WSI and/or WSIT certifications for 30 years), the American Academy of Underwater Sciences, and the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.
