ART - HISTORY MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 80 total and 44 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Art – Studio Arts major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Major	ART 1102, ART 1202	ART 1103, ART 1203	ART 1104, ART 1204 OR ART 1205	NOTE: Students need 10 credits between ART 1102, 1103 and 1104. NOTE: Students need 15 credits between ART 1202, 1203, 1204 and 1205.
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests
Other				Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Complete Foreign Language Competency, if required			AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (Choose two or three depending on competency courses needed.)
Other	Apply to the major upon successful completion of ART 1102, 1103, 1104, 1202, 1203, and 1204			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

Major	ART 3112, One 5 credit course in Art History (ART 3602 – 3607)	ART 4112, One 5 credit course in Art History (ART 3602 – 3607)	One 5 credit course in Art History (ART 3602 – 3607)	3-9 credits of upper-division electives in ART.

Other		Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.		Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

Major		ART 3608	ART 4898	ART 4966, 3-9 credits of upper-division electives in ART (to total at least nine when added to those taken during Year 3)
Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA, NSB, MAT (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)
Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
