BIOLOGY (BS OPTION I) MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 102 total and 35 upper-division credits are required for the BS in Biology – Option I major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Other	Apply for admission to the major once the General Biology sequence has been successfully completed.			Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

Common Curriculum				UCOR 3000 UFDN 3100
Major	BIO 3325			3 credits (min.) of a Comparative Biology course: BIO 3320, 3432, 3453, 3456, 4435, 4740, or 4744. 5 credits of an Ecology course: BIO 3310, 4810, 4815 or 4825. Biology electives, 14 credits total required for the major. PHY 1101, 1102, 1103 (5 credits each) OR PHY 1121, 1122, 1123 (5 credits each): Physics for Science and Engineering (PHY 1121-1123) is recommended, but not required.

Other		Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned.		Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

Common Curriculum				BIO 4899, (two quarters of BIO 4899 must be taken for a total of two credits).
Major	BIO 4413 OR BIO 4415	BIO 4352, BIO 4330		3 credit (min) of a Field Biology course: BIO 4117, 4735, 4740, 4744, 4810, 4815, 4820, 4825, 4830, 4835, 4880 or 4950. BIO 4978. BIO 4979. Biology electives, 14 credits total required for the major.

Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review.			Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
