Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies (GCCS) SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY ALEXANDER HALL 206-281-2342 The Graduate Certificate in Christian Studies (GCCS) will equip students with an understanding of Christian formation, including the practices that nurture an on-going life of discipleship and mission in the 21st century. Students will also gain an understanding of Christian vocation, being challenged to apply these insights personally through their experiences in both the classroom and community.
The GCCS is a highly flexible program. It is designed for students seeking vocational discernment or for anyone who simply desires to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith. Most classes are conveniently offered weekday evenings to accommodate the lives of working professionals. The GCCS requires 25 credits that can be completed in one academic year or in a timeframe of a student’s choosing.
Seattle Pacific Seminary’s defining vision of academy, abbey, and apostolate is integral within the GCCS. Throughout the program, students will experience rigorous scholarship (academy), spiritual depth, (abbey) and compassionate service (apostolate)—all informed by the Seminary’s Wesleyan heritage that joins “knowledge and vital piety” as a means of engaging and changing the world.
