CHEMISTRY MAJOR
Suggested Course Sequence: A Four-Year Plan

At least 77 total and 32 upper-division credits are required for the BA in Chemistry major. This course sequence is meant to be used as a guideline. Consult with your faculty advisor or academic counselor about modifying this plan to meet your needs, and to reflect any coursework you have already completed prior to enrolling at SPU.

Major	BIO 2101, CHM 1211 (if required)	CHM 1212, MAT 1360 OR MAT 1234	CHM 2540, MAT 1221 OR MAT 1235 CHM 2960

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)	Foreign Language Competency, if required			Complete Writing Skills and Math Skills Competency requirements, as dictated by placement tests

Other	Electives to reach at least 45 credits if needed

YEAR 2	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum				UCOR 2000 UFDN 2000/3001

Major	CHM 3371, PHY 1101 OR PHY 1121	CHM 3372, PHY 1102 OR PHY 1122	CHM 3373, PHY 1103 OR PHY 1123

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, NSA, NSB (Choose one depending on competency courses required.)

Other	Apply for admission to the major once a minimum 2.5 GPA has been successfully achieved in SPU Chemistry courses. Electives to reach at least 90 credits if needed

YEAR 3	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum				UCOR 3000 UFDN 3100

Major	CHM 3225	CHM elective	CHM 3410	The major requires 10 elective credits in CHM courses.

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)

Other	Apply to graduate once 105 credits and admission to major have been earned. Electives to reach at least 135 credits if needed

YEAR 4	Autumn	Winter	Spring	Any Quarter

Common Curriculum

Major	CHM 4361	CHM 4899, CHM 4362 or other CHM elective	CHM 4899, CHM 4363 or other CHM elective	The major requires 10 elective credits in CHM courses.

Competencies Exploratory Curriculum (EC)				AHA, AHB, AHC, SSA, SSB, NSA (whichever categories remain unfulfilled)

Other	Create a final-year plan and meet with your faculty advisor for review. Electives to reach at least 180 total college-level quarter credits and 60 upper-division credits if needed
